The TechSpark Academy Concept
Science, Technology, and Innovation are critical ingredients of your child’s future, whatever education pathway and career he or she chooses. TechSpark Academy helps teenagers gain critical insights into how tomorrow’s digital world will be conceived and developed.
Our mission is to spark the learning process, and launch your child’s future by introducing them to contemporary software used by professionals to build apps, websites, and computer games.
Our goal is to help prepare your teens to thrive in the digital future using interactive, hands-on learning.
Why early Programming Education
Our children’s future is inevitably tech-filled. Yet traditional education is not always providing your child with the skills necessary to compete in our highly digital society.
While coding is a popular buzzword, is it really advantageous to start computer education early, irrespective of planned career path? Our answer is that today, unambiguously, yes.
Programming serves as the language that translates commands into the technology we use every day; technology your child is using every day. Early hands-on exposure to computer languages gives today’s youth an opportunity to have greater insight into the digital world in which we live.
What Coding Offers
Because code is rarely perfect the first time, kids have to look at where errors occur and then troubleshoot (“debug”) their code. Regardless of their future paths, this analytical thinking is a critical life skill.
-Camille McCue, Ph.D., author of Coding For Kids For Dummies
Coding is the backbone of all computer programming, software, mobile apps and websites and there are major benefits of early coding education, including
- critical decision-making
- learning cause and effect
Coding also provides young people with a sense of empowerment and with the concentration and satisfaction that comes from creating something bottom-up.
“How-to-code” courses online are abundant, but we feel real success comes with a person-to-person approach in a stimulating environment.
TechSpark Academy summer camps work with EPFL Students and Computer Science Educators from the international school community. Our student educators are hand selected for their exceptional course knowledge, motivation and ability to make coding fun and inspiring to 12-17 year olds.
In addition to being experts in computer science, our young instructors are good role models in education and learning. As young mentors, their age makes them more approachable to younger students than career teachers.
Enroll your child in one of our upcoming 2017 Coding Camps today. We are certain he or she will love learning hands-on with other students in our friendly and fun 1:5 instructor student ratios courses.
