What is Animation and Game Design?
- Our Animation and Game Design course runs on MIT’s Scratch, a block code programming language designed for educational purposes for children age 8+.
- Scratch is a multi-language platform which includes an online community where kids can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation.
Why choose this course?
- Scratch is an excellent tool to introduce children to the world of programming in a fun and interactive way, sparking their interest in computer science
- Using Scratch, kids learn to think creatively, work collaboratively and reason systematically. To learn more about Scratch visit their website. (https://scratch.mit.edu/)
What skills will my child acquire?
- Students learn to use block code to create stories, games, and animations.
- By programming the different components of their story or game separately – e.g. character movement, background visual, and music – students learn the foundations of algorithmic thinking.
How do I know which level is right for my child?
- To ensure all students get the most out of their TechSpark experience, we ask ALL students to take a short (5 mins) Computational Evaluation the beginning of their first lessons. This allows our instructors to tailor the course material to the student’s needs.
- If you select a level which does not correspond to your child’s knowledge, don’t worry – we will adapt accordingly!
