  • Residential Camps powered by TechSpark are available at Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz and Institut Montana Zugerberg.
What is the language of instruction for Online and In-Person programs Switzerland?
  • Our course material is generally in English, the language of code.
  • Online 1:1 Tutoring lessons can be taught in English, French, German or Italian. When booking tutoring, you can select an instructor who speaks the desired language indicated next to their name eg. Arianna Dorschel (EN, DE, FR)
  • Online Classes & In-Person programs are generally taught in English unless otherwise stated on the product description.
  • All our instructors are multilingual and we make every effort to ensure German or French speaking instructors for junior courses to allow students the opportunity to ask questions in their native language.
Do you offer private tutoring?

Yes, we offer Online 1:1 Tutoring. You can find courses and corresponding lesson packages here. All tutoring lessons are 60 minutes in duration with material tailored to your child’s needs and interests.

How do I know which level is right for my child?

Coding Courses:

To ensure all students get the most out of their TechSpark experience, we ask ALL students to take a short (5 mins) Computational Evaluation at the beginning of their first lessons. This allows our instructors to tailor the course material to the student’s needs.

 

Animation and Game Design, Robotics, Web Design and Digital technology & the Environment:

No prior experience is required. We only ask that you consider the recommended age for each course when making the booking.

 

What is the difference between Online Classes and Tutoring?

Online 1:1 Tutoring:

Private 1-on-1 tutoring provides tailored lessons and personalized guidance, allowing your child to explore the topic at their own pace. Our dedicated instructors will adapt the lessons to match your child’s unique capabilities and prior knowledge. Embark on a rewarding learning journey with our exceptional tutors by your side.

 

Online Group Classes:

Embark on a dynamic learning experience with our semi-private online classes, where your child will acquire new skills through live instructor guidance that fosters peer interaction. With a maximum of 5 students per class, our sessions ensure personalised attention and an engaging environment for optimal learning.

 

What does my child need to participate in Online and In-Person courses?

Online Tutoring & Classes:

  • Students need a laptop or computer to participate in Online lessons. No iPads please.
  • Kindly make sure you have Google Chrome browser installed on your device, if not, please install it! It is required for several of our courses.
  • Please check that the Zoom desktop application installed, alternatively you can use Zoom in the browser. Also, check that your audio, video and screen sharing settings are enabled
  • Students should ideally have access to their own email address.
  • Ideally, students should have a stable internet connection

 

In-Person Programs:

Camps: 

  • Teen courses – Students are asked to bring their own laptops and chargers for all coding courses eg. Code in Python, Cybersecurity etc.
  • Junior courses – Laptops are be available at most locations and can be selected at the time of booking
  • Junior Robotics with Lego- students do not need to bring their own devices.
  • Lunch & Water bottle – unless otherwise stated on the registration form, students are asked to bring a picnic style lunch. Snacks and Drinks are provided throughout the camp. Don’t forget your refillable water bottle!

Coding Clubs:

  • Students can use school devices.

Workshops:

  • All students are asked to bring their own laptops & chargers.
What are the class sizes for Online and In Person programs?

All our classes are taught in small groups of maximum 5 students per instructor to allow for an individualised learning approach.

Build your own website while learning the basics of Java Script.

Students are introduced to the key principles of web design, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), while learning the basics of Java Script- Students apply what they learn to their own custom website, adding text, images, audio, videos, hyperlinks, and more.

The course is ideal for students who have completed at least one coding course with TechSpark Academy, Animation and Game Design or Python, and are familiar with the basics of programming logic and computational thinking.

Code in Python
Beginner - Advanced

Learn Python, the language of Instagram, YouTube, and Google’s search engine!

Widely used by programmers, designers and game developers, Python has rapidly become one of the most popular programming languages.

This coding course is available in three levels so that kids and teens – with or without any previous experience – can develop their knowledge and skills at their pace (Juniors, Teens Beginner & Teens Advanced)

CODE IN PYTHON (Juniors): designed for kids aged 10+ this course serves as an introduction to the fun and rewarding world of coding.

CODE IN PYTHON (Teens Beginner): this course is designed for teens aged 12+ with no experience in programming. Students will become familiar with the fun and rewarding world of coding by learning the fundamentals of the Python language.

CODE IN PYTHON (Teens Advanced): this course is designed for teens aged 13+ with previous experience in coding and game development who want to further develop their knowledge.

Animation & Game
Design

This course teaches students to program their own interactive stories, games, and animations, and share their creations with others in the online community, assembling lego-like blocks of code. Scratch is a visual based programming language which encourages kids to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively.

Scratch was designed and is maintained by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab in the spirit of playful and creative learning.
